Clarity Budget is a personal finance app that combines expense tracking, budget planning, savings goals, bill management, and an AI assistant — all in one place. This guide walks you through every part of the app so you can get a clear picture of your finances from day one.

After signing up, you can set your default currency — pick the one you use daily. You can change this later in Settings.

2 Add your accounts

Accounts represent where your money lives — a bank account, savings account, mobile wallet, or cash. Adding them with accurate starting balances gives you a true picture of your net worth.

Go to the Accounts section and tap + Add Account. Enter the account name, type, and your current balance.

3 Set up your monthly budgets

Budgets let you set spending limits per category — Groceries, Transport, Dining, etc. As you add transactions, you'll see in real time how much of each budget you've used.

Go to Budgets and tap + New Budget. Pick a category and set a monthly limit that feels realistic.

5 Use the AI assistant

The AI assistant is the fastest way to interact with your finances. Instead of filling forms, you just type naturally — and the AI handles the rest.

Open the AI Chat tab and start typing. Here are things you can do:

  • Add expenses: "I spent $35 on lunch today"
  • Transfer money: "Transfer $200 from savings to checking"
  • Ask about your spending: "How much have I spent on food this month?"
  • Get advice: "Am I on track with my budget?"
  • Check your balance: "What's my total balance right now?"

How much did I spend on groceries last month?

Last month you spent $312 on groceries across 8 transactions.

Your budget was $300 — you went over by $12 (4%).

💡 Tip: Your biggest grocery spend was at Whole Foods. Try spreading across cheaper stores.

Ask anything about your finances...

Free accounts get 10 AI requests per day — more than enough for daily use. Pro unlocks unlimited requests.

6 Import a bank statement

If you have a backlog of transactions, importing a statement is much faster than adding them one by one. Clarity Budget accepts PDF bank statements and CSV files.

  1. 1Go to Transactions → Import Statement
  2. 2Upload your PDF or CSV file
  3. 3Wait 10–20 seconds while AI reads and categorizes every transaction
  4. 4Review the parsed list — edit any that need adjusting
  5. 5Confirm to import them all at once

Import finds duplicate transactions automatically — if a transaction already exists with the same amount and date, it skips it.

7 Set a savings goal

Goals help you save toward something specific — an emergency fund, a holiday, a new laptop. You set a target amount, link it to a savings account, and contribute whenever you want.

8 Track your bills

Bills are recurring payments that happen every month — rent, subscriptions, utilities, insurance. Adding them to Clarity Budget means you'll never be caught off-guard by a payment you forgot about.

Go to Bills, tap + Add Bill, enter the name, amount, and due date. When it's time to pay, mark it as paid and a transaction is automatically created and deducted from your account.

9 Read your reports

Once you have a few weeks of transactions, the Reports section becomes very useful. You can see:

  • Income vs expenses over time
  • Which categories you spend the most in
  • Month-over-month spending trends
  • Your savings rate (how much of your income you keep)
  • Financial health score with personalised advice

10 Tips to get the most out of Clarity Budget

  • Review once a week

Block 5–10 minutes every Sunday to review your transactions and check if budgets are on track. Small weekly check-ins beat big monthly surprises.

  • Let the AI do the heavy lifting

Instead of navigating menus, just describe what you did. "I filled up petrol for $60" is faster than finding the right form.

  • Set realistic budgets

Look at your last 2–3 months of spending before setting limits. Budgets that are too tight get abandoned. Start with your real numbers, then improve.

  • Use goals for irregular savings

Create a goal for each big expense — holidays, new phone, insurance renewal. Contribute a small amount each month instead of being caught off-guard.

  • Add transactions as they happen

The easiest habit is to add the expense right after you spend. 10 seconds in the moment beats trying to remember everything at the end of the month.
